Anthony Mascolo founded the TIGI International Creative Team in 2003. Revered for his hairdressing excellence, Anthony is an icon to generations of hairdressers. Constantly pushing boundaries and striving to elevate his conceptual ideas to an ever-higher level, Anthony believes ongoing training leads to progression and success. His philosophy is to constantly share knowledge and inspire others. This is achieved by making his latest work available through TIGI Education. Teamwork has been important to Anthony throughout his career. He nurtures, grows and encourages those working with him, allowing them to elevate their own skills. With this support the TIGI International Creative Team has a strong bond, loyalty and shared vision. Leading the creation of TIGI image collections, Anthony’s creativity is seen through his hairdressing and photography. He also leads TIGI global shows, working closely with his wife, TIGI Makeup Director Pat Mascolo.
Christel Lundqvist, @christellundqvist1
TIGI Global Creative Technical Director
Award-winning colorist Christel Lundqvist helped launch TIGI copyright©olour and the TIGI Global Colour Team. After training in her native Sweden, Christel moved to London and then Sydney before returning to the UK where she became increasingly involved with education and training. Christel works closely with Anthony Mascolo on all TIGI campaign shoots and global hair shows, elevating TIGI’s expertise in technical color. With the TIGI Technical Creative Team, Christel is responsible for the overall approval of new color shades and the development of color education. A talented artist, Christel uses her appreciation of art and fashion to develop new shades.
Thomas Osborn, @thomas.osborn
TIGI Americas Creative Director & VP of Education
Mentored by Anthony Mascolo from a young age, Thomas was driven by his passion for education and has subsequently dedicated the majority of his career to sharing knowledge with other hairdressers across the globe. Thomas holds the dual role of U.S. Creative Director and Vice President of Education and is based at the flagship academy in NYC’s Soho. With his innate ability to recognize trends, forecast future looks and inspire hairdressers, Thomas plays a key role in the development of growing team members, helping them rise to their fullest potential. In addition to his work leading education in the U.S., Thomas also leads shows at New York Fashion Week and works closely with Anthony and the rest of the Creative Team on TIGI advertising campaigns and international hair shows.
Akos Bodi, @akosbodi
TIGI European Creative Director
Born in Budapest, Akos spent six years in a local salon before relocating to Dallas, where he realized his dream of working under Anthony Mascolo. In 2004, when TIGI became a stand-alone company, Anthony Mascolo invited Akos to move to London to help to build the TIGI International Creative Team. His role quickly became focused on TIGI Education materials and Academy operations. Since then, his involvement has deepened to include all TIGI creative projects, from Educational Collections to advertising campaigns, as well as planning and executing shows and seminars around the world. Behind the scenes, Akos works tirelessly with TIGI R&D to ensure TIGI’s reputation for cutting-edge product innovation remains second to none. Akos leads the team of TIGI mentors who each year train the highly respected TIGI Inspirational Youth Team.
Richy Kandasamy, @richykanda
TIGI US Technical Creative Director
Richy Kandasamy’s international background provides the foundation for his distinctive and imaginative use of color and technique. A native of the exotic Seychelles islands, Richy is inspired by the tropics and a polyethnic culture. His disciplined mastery of color techniques was acquired in Italy, where he was technical director for several years. Moving to the UK, Richy continued to develop his passion for color and education, as well as contributing to TIGI collections and global shows. Richy is now US Technical Creative Director, based at the TIGI Academy in New York, where he continues to push the boundaries of color and creativity.

Renee Valerie grew up in Sydney, Australia where she started her career with TIGI. Since taking up the position of Technical Education Director at the TIGI Academy New York, the U.S. has firmly become Renee’s home. Renee started in the industry in 2001 and is inspired by fashion, art, her home, and youth culture. When asked what drew her to TIGI in the first place, Renee said: “Their dedication to education and ability to always keep me inspired.’’ Renee works on TIGI technical education throughout the Americas as well as global shows and collections.

TIGI UK Academy Creative & Education Director
Starting his TIGI journey as a member of the 2007 TIGI Inspirational Youth team, Philip Downing was instantly recognized as a key hairdressing talent. As a result, Philip was asked to train as a TIGI educator where he gained a deep understanding of TIGI products and their styling potential. Progressing to become a member of the TIGI Creative Team, Philip has since participated in seminars in the UK and Europe, as well as TIGI shows such as World Release, and at major hairdressing exhibitions and events. After several years working in the TIGI Academy in London, Philip is currently working on a placement at the TIGI Academy in New York.
Joel Torres, @joeltorresstyle
TIGI Creative Director, Americas
Joel Torres joined the TIGI International Creative Team over 16 years ago in his native Puerto Rico, but has since relocated to the TIGI Learning Lab in Dallas. Working with his mentor, Thomas Osborn, he has helped develop education for TIGI with a particular emphasis on men’s education and has participated in TIGI education collections and international events. Joel’s editorial work has been published in publications such as Italian Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and InStyle. Joel has used his experiences to develop a distinct educational voice for the hairdressing community through how-to videos and collaborations on social media.

On discovering his passion for hair and hair colour, Brian sought out an apprenticeship with the New York TIGI Academy. Progressing to become a member of the education team, Brian is a true testament to what can happen when combining TIGI Education with a strong work ethic. As a native New Yorker and longtime Brooklyn resident, Brian has always been fueled by the city. The abundance of art, music, fashion, and culture—both from the high-end of the spectrum to what’s ‘up and coming’ from the street—are a constant source of creative inspiration for him.
